Walk for Warmth

Help those in financial need heat their homes in the coldest months of winter and cool their homes in the extreme heat of summer by participating in the inaugural Walk for Warmth

As your community partner, Black Hills Power will match donations up to $10,000. Donations will be administered by the Salvation Army and Church Response for energy assistance.

Route:

The Walk for Warmth will be one mile.

Downtown Deals:

Several businesses throughout Downtown Rapid City will offer special discounts to Walk for Warmth participants on the day of the event. Click here for a complete list of Walk for Warmth downtown business deals.

Day of the Event:

Registration will open at 1 p.m. Please arrive at the Main Street Square by 2:30 to pick up your registration packet, including a lanyard that will give you access to special downtown deals throughout the day. 

Your safety is a priority. We worked with the Rapid City Police Department to make sure you can safely cross the streets along the Walk for Warmth route.  Please cross at designated crosswalks and follow the direction of our volunteers.

Please prepare for cold weather:

• Dress in warm clothing, including warm socks, a hat and gloves.
• Walking around in the fresh air can burn up a lot of calories.
  The Salvation Army will provide snacks and beverages on the day of the event, and the Red Cross will have aid stations set up along the route.
  Remember that even in the cold, you can easily become dehydrated.
