Pre-inspections:
Demand Controllers are accepted under the program without pre-inspection as long as they are approved as standard equipment and are not obsolete. The unit must be in working condition upon enrolling in the program. If warranty application is not thoroughly completed, Black Hills Power reserves the right to do a physical inspection of demand controllers before coverage is granted. Coverage:
Any brand or model which includes the set station, main control panel, relay box, remote relay box to furnace/heat pumps, power line carriers, and all cable and wire that is required for the system. Not Covered:
The program will not cover any device, circuits or appliances on a circuit that are connected to the demand controller. This includes: meter cans, lightning arrestors, surge protectors, breaker panels, electric wires, heating or cooling systems, maximum value conversions and increased electric load upgrades. Replacements:
At the point at which the demand controller is determined to be beyond repair by a Black Hills Power Technician, Black Hills Power will pay up to $500 towards the replacement of the components that need to be replaced. This may be a complete system replacement. Electric Bills:
Black Hills Power will not cover the expense of electric bills that are the result of a non-functioning demand controller. If a demand controller problem is reported and a Technician is not able to provide prompt service due to time lag involving receiving parts from vendors, your demand portion of the bill may be adjusted accordingly. Installation Guarantee:
Installation guarantees and warranties are the responsibility of the installation contractor (electrician). Black Hills Power supports and guarantees installation arranged and contracted by Black Hills Power. Customers who install demand controllers using their own contractors are subject to Black Hills Power service charges when requests for repairs are made. For only $36 per year or just $3 per month* plus tax, customers can have peace of mind in knowing their demand controller is 100% covered against anything that may happen to it. *Monthly payments of $3 plus tax can only be offered through your monthly electric bill under the Paid by Bank Plan.
