Robert G. Asheim

Robert G. Asheim was born at Elm Springs, South Dakota. He went to school there and graduated from New Underwood High School in 1939. He received his degree in Electrical Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in 1944. He also graduated from Wichita Business College.

Bob started with the Company in 1945 as an Engineer and later became the Distribution Engineer. He was local manager of Rapid City for three years, then became Manager of Distribution for one year and became System Manager in
1954.

In 1957, he was elected Vice President and in 1962 was elected Vice President of Administration. He was promoted to Senior Vice President in 1968. In 1972 Robert Asheim was elected to the Board of Directors, succeeding J. B. French.
Bob was named President of the Company in 1974. He was elected President and Chief Executive Officer of Black Hills Power and Light Company and Wyodak Resources Development Corp. in 1978.

On September 15, 1980, after thirty-six productive years with the Company, Robert Asheim announced his early retirement and resigned from the Company.

Earlier in his career, Bob worked for nearly two years for National Life Insurance Company in Wichita, Kansas, and was in the Navy during World War II. He was very active in community organizations such as the Junior and Senior Chamber of Commerce and served with distinction on the Realty Council.

Bob and his wife, Norma, reside in Boulder, Colorado, where he works as a business consultant.
